Good to be back on Wednesday
After a month of interruption, it will be good to get sport up and running again at Foxgrove Road on Wednesday. Tennis and squash regulations have already been published here. And, we believe, hockey, vets’ football and junior football will be returning next weekend.
Beckenham, having been placed into Tier 2 of the COVID restrictions, means that opportunity to operate anywhere near normality has been removed. The ‘high alert’ areas rules state that pubs and bars must close unless operating as restaurants, that hospitality venues can only serve alcohol with substantial meals and that when the meal is complete the diner must vacate the premises. We are seeking some clarification on these regulations.
However, the two main rules that are clear and have a major influence on social aspects under which the Club operates are -
· no socialising with anyone you do not live with, or, who is not in your support bubble in any indoor setting, whether at home or in a public place
· you must not socialise in a group of more than 6 people outside, including in a garden or a public space – this is called the ‘rule of 6’.
The imposition of the new Tier 2 restrictions means that, for an initial period, there will be a reduction in the hours that the bar and the pavilion are open; we will not be in a position to offer catering; and, as a result, will not be selling alcohol during the bar opening hours.
The new hours for opening will be published on Monday when we hope to have received some clarification.
Regardless, let us hope that we can get back into Tier 1 as soon as possible and, even better, see the back of these awful times.
